Nottingham dental health Lags Behind Rest of U.K.
The dental health of Nottingham children is lapsing behind by thirty five years compared to other parts of the country. On the average, 5 year old children have three more missing, filled, or damaged teeth than the rest of the country; the second most awful. Also, Nottingham’s poorest schools have children attending with six bad teeth on average, 4 times higher than the rest of the country. £100,000 has been promised annually for improving dental health of children, along with a mobile dental facility to reach children who do not have access to dental care. One thousand children will receive fluoride applied as varnish. At times, these children have seen a dentist, however were uncooperative, and the dentist did not perform any procedures on these children.
