Asaps raise Botox party concerns

Asaps raise Botox party concernsA US-based trend of holding so-called "Botox parties" is causing a stir in the cosmetic surgery industry.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (Asaps) has warned that undergoing the anti-ageing treatment at one of these events should not be a decision taken lightly.

It explained: "Failure to follow post-treatment instructions can lead to complications. In a party atmosphere, people may tend to forget such restrictions, particularly if alcohol is being served."

People considering the treatment should be sure that the person administering it is fully qualified and is using sterile equipment, the organisation stated.

In addition to this, individuals need to provide a full medical history to the clinician, said Asaps, as the injections are not suitable for everybody and some people may need to be advised on a different procedure.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons has recently claimed that the rising popularity of Botox is leading to an increase in facial cosmetic surgery.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18604717-ADNFCR
